Chapter 5 ~ Reflection
Reading chapter 5, I learned the name of something I was doing all my life. Previewing is something I've done all my life but didn't realize what it was called. Previewing is a quick way of familiarizing yourself with the organization on context that is written on the material before reading it. Frequently testing yourself is a good way to know the material you are reading. I knew about asking yourself questions and answering them but it was never a habit that it would always slip my mind when I finished reading the material.

Chapter 4 ~ Reflection
Chapter 4 was very useful to me. This chapter was a review for me. I knew most of the information but it gave me a better understanding of the subject. I'm glad i got to read it because from now on it is going to help me in the future with my work. Chapter 4 had a lot of information about prefixes, root, and suffix. Now I know where to go when I need help on this topic.
Chapter 5 ~ Health Today
The new generation is addicted to technology. Every child is somehow linked to today's technology. Whether it is texting, calling, going on facebook, or even listening to music on your ipod, everyone is connected to technology. Texting or calling while driving is a very important subject these days. About 25 percent of all car accidents are caused by texting or calling while driving. People don't realize how dangerous it is until they experience it first hand. I could relate to that because I text and drive all the time. Every time I text and drive I'm putting my self in danger but I guess just like other people I won't realize how dangerous it is until I experience it myself.

Chapter 3 Reflection
Before reading chapter 3, I knew the different types of context clues but I forgot that the types fall under context clues. This chapter was a review for me. It's always good to review because then it stays in your head longer. My favorite type of context clue would be contrast clues. Contrast clues help me the most because it gives another perspective of the word by telling the opposite meaning of it.
Chapter 3 Mastery test 3
I think that gambling is one of the hardest diseases a person can get rid of. The age of gambling should increase but only for the higher tables. So it's not as easy to loose your money. For people who spend all their money at a casino, people should tell the limit on how much they can spend. You could tell the people at the gambling place how much you can spend and then they could stop you before you loose your money so you won't go broke.

Chapter 2- Reflection
As i was reading chapter 2, I found out that you learn 20 - 50 new words in the first chapter only. I found that pretty interesting. Next time i read I'm going to count the words i learned. Most of the info i read, I had already had a good general knowledge about it but it is always good to go in detail.
"Stop asking about my major" - Reflection
Choosing my major was the hardest thing I had to do. I had so many people come to me and ask me what major am I taking in college and not knowing what your doing isn't a good feeling. I didn't know what most majors were about. It's hard to choose something you don't have much knowledge about. when people ask about I had a puzzled face on. Even though I choose my major and I am attending college I'm still puzzled if I made the right choice.
Chapter 1 - Reflection
These strategies have proven to be helpful because my friends and family members told me the same thing to a successful college life. I feel like the concentration section will help me a lot. At times i would get easily distracted. I will try these tips when I am going to study. My phone would be my number one distraction. Since I'm going to have of work to do at times, I have to time myself. The learning styles and reading/learning strategies chart is a great overview of how to better learn in different ways.
